IPTV Smarters Pro: Complete Setup and User Guide

IPTV Smarters Pro is one of the most widely used IPTV players, mainly because it runs on almost everything: Fire TV, Android TV boxes, Android phones, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Windows, Mac and some smart TVs. It is a player only. It does not come with any channels; you connect it to a subscription such as IPTV LEX, and it organises the live channels, films and series into a clean, remote-friendly layout.

This guide walks through installing the app on each device, logging in, and using the features most people never find, such as catch-up, multi-screen and the external player option.

Installing IPTV Smarters Pro on each device

Logging in: Xtream Codes vs playlist

When you first open the app, you will see several login options. Your IPTV LEX activation email contains details for both of the common ones.

Login with Xtream Codes API (use this one)

1. Tap Login with Xtream Codes API.
2. Any Name: type something you will recognise, such as IPTV LEX.
3. Username and Password: copy them exactly from your email. Both are case-sensitive.
4. URL: enter the server address including http:// and the port number, for example http://server-address:8080 (use the exact one from your email).
5. Tap Add User. The app downloads live channels, movies and series. The first load can take 30-90 seconds.

Xtream Codes is the better option because the app fetches the EPG guide, the VOD library and catch-up automatically and keeps them updated. You never have to replace a playlist file.

Load your playlist or file/URL

Choose this if you only have an M3U link. Paste the full URL into the File/URL field and give the playlist a name. It works, but you may need to add an EPG URL manually under settings. The trade-offs are explained in M3U vs Xtream Codes.

A tour of the main screen

After login, the dashboard shows large tiles. Here is what each one does.

• Live TV: all live channels, grouped by country and category. Select a group on the left, then a channel. Press OK once to preview and again for full screen.
• Movies: the on-demand film library, with posters, descriptions and ratings. IPTV LEX adds new titles daily.
• Series: shows organised by season and episode, with resume from where you stopped.
• Catch Up: channels that support timeshift, with a list of past programmes you can play from the start.
• EPG / TV Guide: a grid of what is on now and next across channels.
• Multi-Screen: up to four channels on one screen at once, if your plan and device can handle it.
• Settings: player choice, buffer, EPG updates, parental control and more.

Features worth setting up on day one

Favourites

With 25,000+ channels available, favourites are essential. Long-press OK (or the menu button) on any channel and choose Add to Favourites. A Favourites group then appears at the top of the Live TV list.

Hiding categories

If you only watch channels from two or three countries, hide the rest. In Live TV, open the options menu on a category and choose to hide or lock it. The list becomes shorter, loads faster and is easier for the whole family to use.

Parental control

Under Settings > Parental Control, set a PIN, then lock individual categories. Adult content on IPTV LEX is optional, and locking that category (or asking support to leave it off) keeps it out of sight.

EPG updates

If the guide shows No Information, go to Settings > EPG or use the refresh option on the dashboard. Give it a few minutes on the first run. If it is still empty, set the EPG time shift to match your time zone.

Player settings that fix most problems

Smarters lets you choose between its own player engines and an external player. Changing this is the quickest fix when one channel works and another does not.

• Settings > Player Selection: switch between Smarters Player (default) and Native Player. Native tends to be smoother on low-powered sticks.
• Hardware decoder: turn it on if 4K or FHD channels stutter. Turn it off if you get a black screen with sound.
• Buffer size: where available, a medium or large buffer smooths playback on unstable Wi-Fi at the cost of a slightly slower channel change.
• External player: add VLC or MX Player under Settings > External Players and use it for channels that misbehave in the built-in player.
• User agent: leave it as the default unless support asks you to change it.

Common Smarters Pro errors and fixes

Catch-up and multi-screen in practice

Catch-up is one of the most useful features and one of the least used. Open Catch Up from the dashboard and you will see only the channels that support timeshift. Pick a channel, then a day, and a list of past programmes appears. Select one and it plays from the beginning, with pause and rewind, as if it were a recording. How far back you can go depends on the channel, typically a few days.

Multi-Screen splits the display into two, three or four tiles, each playing a different live channel. It is handy on weekends when several matches or events run at the same time. Two things to keep in mind:

• Each tile is a separate stream, so four tiles count as four connections against your plan. A single-device plan will only fill one tile.
• Each tile also uses bandwidth. Four HD streams need roughly 40 Mbps, which is more than many Wi-Fi setups deliver reliably.

If you want to use multi-screen regularly, a plan with more simultaneous connections makes sense; the multi-device page lists 2 to 5 connection plans.
