IPTV Multi Connections: How to Watch on 2 to 5 Devices at Once

One IPTV line plays on one screen at a time. Here is how multi-connection plans work, what they cost per device, and how to pick the right number.

By the IPTV LEX Team 8 min readUpdated

It usually starts on a Saturday night. Someone is watching a match on the living room TV, someone else opens the IPTV app in the bedroom, and one of the two streams freezes or throws a login error. Nothing is broken. The subscription simply allows one stream at a time, and two people tried to use it at once.

IPTV multi connections solve exactly that problem. This guide explains what a connection is, why a single line cannot be shared between rooms, how to choose between 2, 3, 4 and 5 devices, what each option costs per screen with real IPTV LEX prices, and how to set everything up so each person has their own stream.

What a connection actually is

A connection is one active stream. When your player app opens a channel or a film, it logs in to the server with your username and password and holds that stream open. The server counts how many streams are open under your account at that moment and compares it with the number your plan allows.

The key word is simultaneous. Connections are not the same as installations:

  • You can install the app and enter your login on as many devices as you want: TV, Fire TV Stick, phone, tablet, laptop.
  • What is limited is how many of those devices play at the same time.
  • A 1-device plan means one screen playing at any moment. A 3-device plan means three screens playing at once, each watching whatever it likes.

So if you live alone and only ever watch one screen at a time, a single connection is enough, even if you switch between the TV in the evening and your phone on the train. Multi connections are for households where people watch in parallel.

Why one line cannot be shared

It is tempting to think of an IPTV login like a Wi-Fi password: give it to everyone and it just works. It does not, for a technical reason. Each stream is a separate, continuous flow of video from the server to one device. The server enforces the connection limit on every request, so when a second device starts playing on a 1-device line, one of three things happens, depending on the player and server:

  1. The second device is refused and shows a message such as max connections reached.
  2. The first device is cut off and the second one takes over.
  3. Both devices fight for the slot, and both buffer, freeze or drop back to the channel list.

None of those outcomes is fixable with settings. A frozen stream caused by a connection limit looks a lot like buffering, which is why people sometimes spend an evening tweaking Wi-Fi when the real issue is two people on one line. If you see freezing only when someone else in the house is watching, the connection limit is the first suspect. For freezing that happens even with one screen, see our IPTV buffering fix guide.

How to choose 2, 3, 4 or 5 devices

The right number is the count of screens playing at the busiest moment of your week, not the number of devices you own. A household with eight devices might only ever have three streams running at once. Think about the evening peak or the weekend when the big games are on.

  • 2 devices: couples, or one main TV plus a second screen for a phone, tablet or bedroom TV.
  • 3 devices: a small family with a living room TV, a kids' room and one person on a tablet or laptop.
  • 4 devices: larger families, or households where teenagers each have their own screen.
  • 5 devices: big households, shared homes, or a family spread across two locations such as a main home and a holiday flat.

When in doubt, round up by one. A spare connection costs relatively little per month and saves the Saturday night argument. You can also start on the free trial, watch how many screens actually play at once, and then order.

Per-device cost with real prices

Multi-device plans are priced as one bundle, but the useful number is the cost per screen. The more devices you add, the less each one costs. Here are the IPTV LEX 12-month prices broken down:

Devices12-month pricePer device per yearPer device per month
1$59.99$59.99about $5.00
2$107.99about $54.00about $4.50
3$144.99about $48.33about $4.03
4$189.99about $47.50about $3.96
5$229.99$46.00about $3.83

Two things stand out. First, a 5-device plan works out cheaper per screen than a single line. Second, a multi plan beats buying separate single lines: two separate 12-month single-device subscriptions cost $119.98, against $107.99 for one 2-device plan, and you only manage one login.

Shorter plans, same pattern

The discount per device holds on shorter terms too. Here is the per-screen cost for each plan length:

Plan length1 device2 devices3 devices4 devices5 devices
1 month$12.99$11.50 each$10.00 each$9.50 each$9.20 each
3 months$34.99$30.00 eachabout $26.66 each$25.00 each$24.00 each
6 months$49.99$45.00 each$40.00 each$37.50 each$36.00 each
12 months$59.99$54.00 eachabout $48.33 each$47.50 each$46.00 each

Bundle prices for every combination are on the multi-device page, and single-device plans, including the 24-month option, are on the pricing page.

Household scenarios

The couple with one big TV

One person watches sport on the living room TV, the other follows a series on a tablet in bed. Two streams at peak, so a 2-device plan covers it. On a 12-month term that is about $4.50 per screen per month.

The family of four

Parents on the main TV, one child watching cartoons on a Fire TV Stick in their room, a teenager on a phone. That is three simultaneous streams most evenings. A 3-device plan fits, and a 4-device plan gives headroom for visitors or a second teenager.

The shared house or two homes

Housemates who each have their own TV, or a family that keeps a screen at a holiday home, quickly reach four or five parallel streams. A 5-device plan keeps everyone independent at about $3.83 per screen per month on a 12-month term.

Setting up multi-screen IPTV across devices

With a multi-device plan you receive one login: one server URL, one username and one password, plus one M3U link. You enter the same details on every device. There is no need to create sub-accounts or separate profiles; the server simply allows more parallel streams on that login.

  1. Install a player on each screen. TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro on Fire TV and Android TV, an IPTV app from the store on Samsung or LG, an App Store player on Apple TV and iPhone.
  2. Enter the same Xtream Codes details on each device: server URL, username and password from your activation email.
  3. Let each app load the channels, VOD and EPG. The first load takes a minute or two per device.
  4. Set favourites per device. Favourites are stored in the app, so the kids' TV can show cartoons first while the main TV shows sport.
  5. Test with every screen playing at once before the big match, so you know the setup and your bandwidth hold up.

Upgrading an existing plan

If you started on a single device and now need more, contact support on WhatsApp or at support@iptvlex.com with your order email and the device count you want. Support can explain the options for moving to a multi-device plan. Remember that adding devices does not change the content: every plan has the same 25,000+ channels and 60,000+ movies and series, so the only thing you pay extra for is parallel streams.

Frequently asked questions

What does multi connection mean in IPTV?+

It means the number of streams that can play at the same time on one IPTV account. A 3-connection plan lets three devices watch different channels or films simultaneously using the same login.

Can I use one IPTV subscription on two TVs?+

You can install it on both, but a 1-device plan only lets one of them play at a time. If both TVs need to play at once, choose a 2-device plan or higher.

Do I get separate logins for each device?+

No. A multi-device plan uses one username and password that you enter on every device. The server simply allows more streams at once on that login.

Is a multi-device plan cheaper than separate subscriptions?+

Yes. For example, a 12-month 2-device IPTV LEX plan is $107.99, while two separate 12-month single-device plans would cost $119.98. The saving per screen grows as you add devices.

How much internet speed do I need for multi-screen IPTV?+

Plan for about 10 Mbps per HD stream and 20-25 Mbps per 4K stream, then add them up. A wired connection on the main TV helps keep every stream steady.
